Our adventure began as we boarded the ferry to Mo Tat Wan. En route, we cruised past Magazine Island, where Deep Hole Lover showed us some cool photos of the interior. During the briefing, the Hare announced that on top of the usual Wimps and Rambos split, we also had "SR" (Super Rambo) and "SSR" (Super Super Rambo) options to look forward to. The pack was buzzing with excitement, or maybe that was just heat stroke setting in. The trail kicked off with a gentle ascent leading into a quiet village. Our uninvited running group shattered the peaceful afternoon. Shouts of Trail and On On drew the eyes of the bemused locals. A dog barked furiously at us from a second-story balcony, and Britney Bitch’s chill afternoon was interrupted. Intrigued by the chaos, he asked which hash we were and decided to join us on the spot — spirit of hash spontaneity! After a quick checkback, we hit an endless wall of stairs. But the breathtaking views made it impossible to complain. Soon enough, I arrived at the first Rambo. This wasn’t some tiny tunnel, we could actually stand up comfortably inside. After initially circling back to the entry with Ass Control Tower, we successfully navigated our way out on the second attempt. My memories of that first tunnel? A massive, motionless cricket on the wall. Crossing through the shiggy, a massive crag appeared. Time to scramble! Spotting anchors drilled into the rock face, it became clear the Hare must have discovered this trail while coming here for rock climbing 😁 Reaching the peak, we were treated to a fantastic panorama of HK Island. Next up was SR alongside Freebie and Just Mike. This one was significantly tighter than the first. It was cool inside, prompting Just Mike to joke that it would make a nice office. Well, I’m not sure if I want to work in an office with centipedes and cockroaches running around. The exit wasn't obvious, and I managed to pick the wrong route again. After thoroughly exploring every dead end, I had to trek back to the first split I’d missed at the very beginning 😮💨 As the passage grew narrower, I witnessed Freebie crawl out of the cave using all sorts of strange postures given the conditions on her knee and elbow injuries. What a strong woman! Emerging into the light with hands caked in dirt, I spotted Jonathon in his gloves. Talk about being well-prepared! At the final SSR split, our iron woman Freebie declared, "Gobi said don’t do SSR if you don’t enjoy SR, but I enjoyed SR, so I’m doing it!" She took the lead as the front crawler. Unlike the spacious first tunnel, this third one required us to lie completely flat and army-crawl. As the pack watched and cheered Freebie clawing her way out, Just Mike put on music, transforming the cave into the LSW Tunnel Disco Party. The trail finally headed downhill, taking me past Sok Kwu Wan and back to The Bay restaurant. It was a wonderful trail filled with fantastic views, fun crawling experiences, and great food — a public holiday absolutely well spent. Huge thanks to Gobi for setting up the trail and sorting the logistics. She has set an incredibly high standard, no wonder Calamity wants her haring every single week!
