Write-up - Dogshit

Arrived a few minutes before 7pm and the runners were just getting ready to head out. We received the briefing from the hares who advised short and long splits about 7.5 and 9.5km with no shiggy. As this was Valentines day they made it very special by having heart shaped markings with smiley faces which were all checks but also to look for an actual hanging red paper heart and each runner is allowed to take one and bring it back for a magnificent prize.

So we headed out of the Park and up to Queen's Road East and left / the first check was near the overpass KK and MW followed QRE but I followed Hopeless as heard him earlier comment he saw some of the markings when coming to the hash. LIT was in front of everyone and found true trail and then right turn up Stubbs Road.

We were running up the not so steep road with LIT in front with KK, MW and SSHT all moving pretty fast. There was a check at Stubbs Road Playground and seems everyone followed LIT up the steps into the playground. I continued on and found trail further up Stubbs road then On2 and yelled back. I continued up and found a heart i.e. check and found a paper red heart. I couldn’t get the ribbon off tugging and tugging with full body weight so just took the heart. Many runners now passed me and went across road following trail to Shiu Fai Terrace. I heard Hopeless was convinced trail was going up to lovers rock and later found out he did go up there so never saw him till the finish. KK and MW hit a check back then the rest of the pack went back and forth for a while till MW found trail on the LHS of Stubbs road.

So then the pack was in chase of MW and then the trail became a bit treacherous as no shoulder and the road got pretty thin / some of the runners myself included had to hug the wall while cars vans and busses sped by…

Up Up Up Stubbs road and MW, KK, LIT and SSHT all in front of me and then a check near the intersection of Bowen Road, Wong Nai Chung Gap Rd and Tai Hang Road.

SSHT and I waited at the check convinced it will go Bowen road but LIT and KK were coming back so we went up Tai Hang and which MW had correctly chosen and we would never see again.

LIT was not in front of the rest of us and we hit the split Rambo steps up to Sir Cecil's Ride or continue on the road. LIT chose the Wimps while KK, SSHT and I went up with KK moving quick and passed us.

We hit the top and a check with a ? Towards the left which made sense as that’s were the wimps was heading below us.

We continued on Sir Cecil's Ride with the 3 of us running together then down to Mt. Butler Road where we encountered again a narrow road with no shoulder with CARE markings from the caring hares… at least the traffic was light here.

From there we headed left down Mt Butler road and onto Chun Fai Rd and onto quite an old path where KK mentioned this looks like it hasn’t been used in 100 years… we had to duck under some branches (no Shiggy? Never trust the hares) but wasn’t long then onto Tai Hang road and more checks but always MW put down a ? to the right direction

Was then running down steps and more steps and more steps. Now was just SSHT and myself in pursuit as KK slowed down a bit on the down. Trail then went around near the HK stadium and then winded back through CWB a bit onto Leighton road and under the overhead road going back into Wanchai and then coming back into Wanchai Park from Wood road and SSHT and I held hands remembering this was another request from the hares.

Arrived back at A - my GPS clocked 9.2km with 269m elevation in 1hr13 and already back were Hopeless (heard he indeed did go up to lovers rock), LIT and Timbits who had done the wimps and MW who was bragging he got all the checks right (which is very uncommon for him).

Then Octo came in holding hands with KK followed by HBS and DG also hand in hand with SB arriving alone but ST ran out to escort her back in and finally DF arrived. People changed quickly had some drinks and enjoyed some great snacks brought by ST, HBS and cookies by LIT (maybe others too?)

Then we packed up and headed to the 369 arriving about 9pm and waited a few minutes till a big table was set up. We had a table of 10 as DF and Timbits left for other engagements.

Excellent Valentines day run and great bucket snacks and great chatter about the run.

Hopeless ordered the food with about 5 different people asking did you order this… yes… how about this… yes…. Then finally its not my first Rodeo.

Then we had a great meal and after first round KK asked for a second round… 369 did not disappoint.

ST then handed out the awards / gifts

To all the couples - she gave an envelope with Baton Cookies

To those that got Hearts received Godiva chocolates and HBS and DG didn’t get any hearts since some of the runner took more than 1 (SSHT / DS / others) but they got all the ribbons left behind by the runners so due to their environmental heroism they were also awarded.

Then Hopeless was asked to lead the circle:

To the hares.
If set valentines going it has to go up to lovers rock. Octo + Hopeless were confident it went there and Hopeless did go. Then found out ST and PD didn’t even know there was a lovers rock

KK asked when the XXXX is happening / that must be redacted.

KK given another down down from Hopeless for muttering canto "mmmgoy" when passing on 4 occasions

Octo down down to the hares for giving some virgin trail for her

KK to DS whom for the third time mentioned his Australia / Melbourne time… 3rd time is the charm will remember now…

Octo also to DS for similar down down on Aus …

To the Hares - On home not marked well and confused the pack 3x - but that was the only complaint on the whole trail.

DS to PD hopeless MW and himself for being cheap bastards and taking their better halfs to LSW and 369 for their valentine's day date.

ST then advised the run was mapped out to look like a Heart shaped run… people look at their GPS and conclude there was some similarities.

Oct then gives hares a down down thinking the trail was to remanence fond memories of romantic hikes on Sir Cecil Ride, going to the 7s together etc… nope

KK announced 25 runs today… some comments seems like a lot more and MW 51 runs today.

LIT mentions Today is Feb 14 and in 9 months time i.e. Nov 14 but she was born 15 Nov… so concluded her parents had Sex just after midnight on valentines day (38 years ago ….. )

MW to DS and SSHT who tried to poison him in Cambodia - had dinner in Phnom Penh just before headed back and was in toilet on plane whole way back (fluids coming out of both ends). Lost 5kg and did 5 days in bed

Then Circle Closed and LSW song sang by the Hares then everyone…
