LSW #2438 - write up by Gobi Lo (and for those who did not get the joke 13 years ago, my hash name is read as "Go Below"

As we gathered at Tsing Yi on a typical Hong Kong summer evening - hot and humid was the forecast with a high chance of rain - the Hare started rounding up the pack to put our bags together to be transported to B. Her warning for us were frightening: "There is a very slippery section so you will slip and fall, you will hit your head and you will die!" Lost In Space merely chuckled at this (brave man #1) and Cheap Prick shrugged it off (brave man #2). Spoiler alert: no one died, thankfully!

The Hare's other set of instructions were thankfully less ominous: there is one Rambos/Wimps split, and there are definitely no spiders. Well, to some of us, these were empty promises...

Foot Fetish and Lubricated Mud took the lead for a hot second, stretching their legs while following flour on the promenade. I had a good chat with them and after warming up a bit, caught up with Octopussy who was then leading the pack into Tsing Yi Park. Up the steps and onto the check where I chose the wrong option. True trail led us down to the main road, with more checks doing a great job keeping the pack together.

I caught up with Octopussy again while on the Tsing Tsuen Bridge, remarking that this must be virgin trail for the LSW. I was left wondering if a spider-free run meant no shiggy or trails, but there was no time to waste as I had to catch up with the FRB, Screwtop.

After crossing the bridge, trail led us left and down the steps into the housing estates. That's where the R/W split was, but apparently everyone missed it! I saw the feint chalk marks on the wall and shouted to Screwtop to turn back as she had taken the Wimps route. Clearly my hoarse (and still recovering from a bad bout of bronchitis) voice did not carry far, or Screwtop chose to ignore me (it turned out that the latter was true!).

I checked out the Rambos route to the left but the rain had washed away most of the markings. I doubled-back to the split, but seeing no other hashers I decided to go further into the estates to find flour. Sure enough, there were bits of flour in the back alleyway, and then it led me to the waterfront.

Here I was transported into the infamous GTA (Grand Theft Auto) game - running around the containers at the shipyard and squeezing past slabs of concrete right by the water's edge. I half expected to run into a triad mob transacting a fleet of stolen Aston Martins! This was my favourite part of the run, and as an added bonus I had the luxury of running all by myself.

The very scant trail led me to the Tsuen Wan Chinese cemetery, and this was where I saw some headlamp lights flickering around. Turned out to be Lubricated Mud and Foot Fetish at the re-join. They looked disappointed when I told them that they missed the Rambos split.

We saw signs leading to a tomb that said "Wincy's Great-Great-Great grandparents" and I realised this was what the Hare meant when she said there were some special visitors! I took off my headlamp and running cap, and paid my respects to the Hare's ancestors before heaing up the cemetery.

Down to the urban area, and the Hare left one piece of "shiggy" for us. I ran straight into a cobweb so the Hare didn't quite live up to the "spider-free run" promise! On home to B, Hing Shing Road Playground, and then on on to Thai Spackle Food where everyone who ran the hash actually stayed for the bash. Thank you Hare for a wonderful run in such challenging rainy conditions! Freebee did a great job ordering food, followed by the Circle led by Indy and Gobi Lo.
