Mei Foo Hares - Cute Boar Butt, Octopussy Hashers - Bobbledick, Comes Up the Rear, Minja Turtle, Gobi Lo, Octopussy, Pole Dancer, Indyanus, Lubricated Mud, Mr Lubricated Mud, Cute Boar Butt Write-up - Comes Up The Rear Pepper the dog run On this wintery evening the turnout was rather light as many runners had abandoned the city ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday. The "A" was located in the dog park nearby exit D of MTR station Mei Foo, or "not the usual place" inside the children's playground. Although the start time was set at a leisurely 7pm, the effect was not to hold the group together, but rather to thin the runner's ranks even further as Indy set out on trail early, while Gobi Lo also opted for an early start on the walker's option. A recent returnee BobbleDick tackled the walkers option. Pole Dancer and CUTR set off as the only runners making the official start time around 7.15pm, tackling the various unsolved checks in inky blackness as the temperatures sank faster than stock holdings in the LINK reit. The trail wove its way in such a confusing and hard to remember arch that it was difficult to know exactly one's location. Not until about one-third the way through were there some recognisable landmarks in the form of a winding roadway that led up into the hillside of Kam Shan Country Park. It turned out the run featured a long hill climb, ascending near a public housing and private estate (Wonderland Villas) that provided lovely views over the city. The descending trail passed through the historic Kau Wah Keng Old Village and what was once a popular BBQ area before returning back to A. All in all a difficult run that took well beyond an hour, even at a hearty pace, but a good training session. Well done hares Octo and virgin hare Boar Butt. Among the highlights in attendance was Lubricated Mud and her husband Tierry. The walkers: Indy, BobbleDick and Gobi Lo. Ninja Turtle who works nearby and still can't arrive on time. Pole Dancer absent his better half. Pepper the dog. Notable down down went to virgin hare Boar Butt who was so nervous ahead of the run she copied and pasted the run regulations stipulating not to be too harsh on the hares. It turns out there was little need for these anxieties. A warm welcome to returnee BobbleDick who hasn't been in these waters since the pre-Covid era. Hash cries of 'not enough checks' 'not enough hills / mountains / checks '... Octo / CBB - like the long Marches of MLK, they set the 'long long March up the hill'... with Rambos having 2 choices to do loops ... Minja Turtle ??- 'I particularly enjoyed the Long flat hill with 2 Rambo loops .. the hares omitting to say there was a mountain to climb after that' ... just as MLK had many mountains to overcome .... CBB - virgin co hare with Pepper (her faithful pup) .. Great job despite having to overcome her nerves ... CCB to Octo - fab mentor to show her how to lay a hash trail ... Returnee - Bobbledick ... welcome back after almost 3 years of absence!! Bobbledick - rumour has it that with covid's approach Hopeless managed to bribe him to go visit Old Blighty .. from where he could not return!! ... so hopeless could get the LSW 1000 run award first !!! Lubricated Mud - great to see you brought hubby along for his first LSW run !! .. although in absentia from the bash ... LM and hubby - doing W / R sections having BD to show them 'the ropes'!! CUTR - welcome to the LSW bash ! First one in a basho since covid restrictions kicked in!! CUTR - sitting on table 'all by himself' as forgotten table manners after 3 years of not 'eating out'....
