Write-up - Gobi Lo

Winter is finally here in Hong Kong, and so it was with much excitement that I headed to Cheung Sha Wan to see what Snatch Catcher and Grateful Head had in store for us. I had previously set two runs from this location years ago and it turned out that one of those runs would make a special appearance later!

When I got to the run start there was only Snatch Catcher sorting out drinks. Apparently the wife had decided not to help with haring duties - smart wife! The pack left just 10 mins ago so I hit a good stride to play catch-up. Pretty straightforward stuff at the start, through the rapidly-gentrifying industrial estates, then up the steps to the pedestrian crossing where I saw markings for LSW #2092, a run I set with my brother back in December 2016! Wow. Talk about quality chalk (it must have been from Hopeless' chalk stash).

Across Tai Po Road and a tricky check at the petrol station, where markings took me up the metal steps and onto a lovely trail. It finally brought us to Crow's Nest Nature Trail with some stunning views of the city. Here I bumped into Octopussy and Wincy happily taking selfies. Octo then took us up to her "secret spot" where we had an unobstructed view of Kowloon and Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour and all the lights and splendor that make up this truly unique city we all love. After all these years, Hong Kong can still knock my socks off!

After spending another five mins taking selfies I said bye to the girls and bounded up the steps until the checkback where I turned around to find true trail (unlike Pole Dancer - more on that later!). Trail took us into the shiggy and down to the Maclehose trail, then back onto the Crow's Nest Trail to close off the loop.

Here I saw Screwtop ahead of me, and she called out "Is that you Gary?" - it must have been my wheezing from my recovering cough / cold that made her thing it was Pole Dancer! Apparently she lost Pole Dancer and haven't seen him on trail since. It turned out that Pole Dancer "missed" the checkback and cut out the loop! I headed down the steps where I flew by Comes Up The Rear and Lost in Space, and then it was a quick run through the bus terminal and housing estates, and on home. Snatch Catcher kindly brought a bottle of her scotch to share with us all.

Thanks for a most lovely run, Snatch Catcher!

On On to the joint Santa hash and New Territories Hash.

Down Downs by Gobi Lo

Hare - thank you for a most lovely run!

Hare - being ditched by the wife so she had to set the run all by herself

Hare - "no elevation" / "flat" - LIES

Pole Dancer - short-cutting bast*rd, running through the checkback

Octopussy and Wincy - taking selfies

Octopussy - taking two girls to her "secret spot"

CUTR - no time to waste on selfies, but Gobi Lo still overtook him later even after taking selfies and starting the run late!

Wai Chee Kok - her excuse for not joining the LSW last week - need to socialise with the Wednesday Night Run runners.. but what about LSW hashers? We can socialise too!

Wai Chee Kok - taking an hour in the shower. If only Toilet Spray was still here to accompany her

Hopeless - doing the Moontrekker on the weekend

Lost in Space - back in Hong Kong

Lost in Space - wearing a kimono, which has nothing to do with the Scots

Hopeless - wearing proper Scottish attire

Wai Chee Kok - missed the last ferry at Tung Lung over the weekend thanks for Gobi Lo's insistence that Po's daughter Helen do a few climbs with her. Oops! Gobi Lo owes Wai Chee Kok a drink

Lost in Space - for the infamous WALOB runs he set with Octo which caused Hopeless to bin over $2000 worth of compression / running gear

Lubricated Mud - passing on her cold to Gobi Lo at a mahjong session

Down Downs from the floor

CUTR to Gobi Lo - for naming Lost in Kok months ago, and still no sign of her returning to the hash...

Octo to Gobi Lo - chalk markings six years ago still visible on this hash!

The song was sung by the Hare, Wai Chee Kok, Octopussy and Lost in Space
