Write-up - Hopeless

The hares PT & WCK were showered and changed and waiting with their own bottle of wine as well as the drinks/ice at the top end of the Folk Museum Park at Chai Wan. "Need a corkscrew for that?" I asked. "We're all over it" replied Poon Tang... good, so run briefing?

New run markings today, "SS" (Short Shiggy) or "LE" (Long Easy) as a first split. Interesting. A few CBs else usual LSWH3 chalk and flour, a 400m lollipop for the first part of the run, so don't come back within 20 minutes else you have gone wrong!

So out over the footbridge to the junction for the Muslim Cemetery, but right and up the hill for an Open Check with three options. Up the steps furthest away, and a CB to go right and the trail to the catchwater and an ancient bridge over the gorge. Another CB.... Under the bridge? No! Up into the shiggy off right which emerged past some old military buildings, emerging onto Tai Tam Road, across and onto an old access road.

Here we found the SS/LE split.... SS looked intense. OK, LE.... As, I believe, most of the pack went along. Interesting old route, doubling back up onto the contour trail to the re-join with SS and around 1.5km of catchwater to the W/R split (watch at 5km) at the Chai Wan end of the Boa Vista Trail. Kinda tricky Check with many options, but, finally, straight on.... Heading towards Tai Tam dam... left into shiggy and then a long downhill shiggy to get back onto Tai Tam Road and HK Trail Section 7. Wow... 6.5km and miles away from home. Only one way back.... Along the catchwater, predicted CB, down into the mangrove swamp, 3 snakes, river bed, and then the infamous pipeline WCK loves to use and Piperider loves to ride....

Shek O Road, the re-join with the Wimps, the crematorium, and 9km on the watch as we head down the cemetery, off left and road downhill towards home. Finally, onto the lollipop and "OUT" arrows to clock 10.50km back at the park.

The hares looked somewhat thirsty.... "Brought the wrong bag - no corkscrew!" said PT... luckily the Fujitsu issued Swiss Army knife came out to rescue the situation and the hares could start on their red juice. Well-marked trail, bit of an adventure race scenario for the Rambos, nice shorter options for the Wimps which the likes of Freebee, Freewheel and Macau Drunk took advantage of.

With Luisa and Deborah K still on trail at nearly 9pm, the hares called people to head to the bash, opposite. We bid farewell to Likes A Cockatoo as he heads to lockdown in Shanghai - good luck!

Down Downs by Octopussy

- hares for interesting run

- hares for the most convoluted pre-run briefing markings that need a PhD to work out

- for being so detailed in the pre-run briefing but not being able to direct us to the correct MTR exit and to A

- Freewheel - for finally coming out of Covid isolation and joining the bash

- Freebee - for getting excited about finding a yellow rubber ducky on trail

- Freebee and Freewheel for being the Free family

- Freebee for taking the Wimps

- Winky Twinky, Freewheel and Pole Dancer for taking the Nazi ‘SS' trail

- SST and Octo for talking so loudly on trail about their deep dark secrets that Pipe Rider could hear them talking for about 1 km.

- Screwtop and Pole dancer - winning the hash and choosing the better running club on a Wed night

Hares - for leaving co-hare AB at home while having a good night out.
