Write-up - Hopeless

War and Peace was last week's literary work, so this week I turned to famous Rhodesian authors. Not a lot stood out, Peter Goodwin and Mukiwa, a memoir about growing up in Southern Rhodesia in the 1960s and 1970s. Might fit the Macau Drunk age bracket, so I'm going to go away and read it. Would be a shorter book than last week - just like this week's run briefing!

O'Bollocks and I met just after 5pm, with AFWD and son away very early, followed by five ladies...... one of which was Gobi Lo, so we knew we had no chance of catching her - not that we planned on running much. Meant we could soak up some great clear views on trail, especially on the channel out towards HK island.

OB's hermit like existence was broken - he ran like a demon for the first kilometre, and then.. he was broken.... "let's be a-walking!" he announced..... good for me! So the first kilometre took us out on Macau Drunk's favourite shiggy trail from the library and onto Pak Kok. Here the local knowledge of our resident Mick fell apart as a sneaky Check led us onto an old pipeline trail that paralleled the cable road.

At the end.. a 3-way Check, both Ivor & Paddy convinced it was straight ahead, still on the pipe, or on the road. It was not to be... a reverse and onto.... the mountain bike trail.

This section of trail in Lamma is relatively new and well-tended. It twists and turns with many options, and the abundance of flour took us out the other side of Lamma for those afore mentioned views. We passed Foot Fetich and the girls enjoying the scenery, and even having a little rest/nap on the hammock at one point!

Conchúr was full of confidence once we hit the road - "onto Tai Peng my friend" he yelled, the smell of a home shower in his nostrils. Indeed, it was Tai Peng, passing the Water Works and heading back to the main strip of Yung Shue Wan and On Home.

No W/R split, and just under 8km, not too much elevation, and, armed with an Octopus card as I ran past the convenience store on the way to the finish, 4 Carlsberg's in hand to greet the thirsty hare.

Our friendly neighbourhood Irishman returned, after his shower, also laden with beer, and we sat and watched/drank as the bright orange glow of dusk befell us. And that was run 2371, an enjoyable day out on Lamma!

Down Downs - None!
