Write Up - Hopeless

First off, a "well done and thank you" to Gin n Vomit, our first hare of the new period of Coronavirus madness in Hong Kong. The staggered starts "run with your bag" appears to have been a successful experiment with 23 runners on trail between Lam Tin and Yau Tong.

The hare had posted that no markings would be made until about 550m from the MTR exit, which was pretty accurate. Not for AFWD who set off into Lam Tin Park, no markings, rang Hopeless, then finally found the first arrow outside the 7-11 of Tak Tin Shopping Centre. Next came the first Check - 4 ways. This was a challenge for most of the pack, ONON eventually found through a hole in a fence and terracing leading down to the Tseung Kwan O tunnel road. The ONON from the Check here was exactly 120m - very long! Thankfully future Checks were more reasonable for lone/paired hashers to find.

A loop up and back to the bridge over the TKO tunnel road led up to the villages above, and the first W/R split, Rambos going left and ending up at Ma Yau Tong Road, the Check going left and then hitting a Checkback with about 6 options to find trail. Arrow was found off right into some village houses and a path leading into the Graveyard and then a Check in the shiggy. This came out at the first of two "20m" Checks to take us onto the contour trail above Lam Tin, past the park entrance, and, after another kilometre, the second W/R split.

R2 up and over Black Hill area, re-join Wimps at the pagoda by O King Road and then a right down the road and into the path, heading, after 8km, towards Yau Tong. Some tricky markings led the runners down to Pik Wan Road and trail onto the finish, passing a 7-11 at Lei Yue Mun, to Sam Ka Tsuen Park.
