Write-up - Octopussy

I was running late to the run when I saw a desperate call out from the hare for somebody to buy ice! Wow on such a freezing evening is there even need... but since I was passing the welcome anyway I thought I'd help out buying 2 bags of it.

The start was a new quiet and clean park which I'd never been to before. I walked while CUTR rode his bike and we arrived at the same time. CUTR was pfaffing around as the hare explained a very long and complex set of instructions but I was honoured to have a special trail section that was made for me. Denvy, Hopeless also got their special trails my curiosity was peaked. CUTR still not ready HBS sent me out the 'fun' way. He warned me about a tight fence opening but said since Hopeless went that way and didn't come back I'd definitely be fine.

So off I went and up some concrete and shiggy to climb over the first railings (a sign of what was to come). Then to the fence and indeed it was a very tiny opening so tiny that my shirt was caught in the front and back... how in the world did Hopeless make it through this fence and not get shredded. Anyway a few more railings and large brick walls to scale and the trail ended up at the pedestrian tunnels above Kennedy down near Pokfulam playground. Then the trail went up and past a construction site onto the service reservoir pylons! It was really a site to run along the pylons next to an active construction site. This was when I caught up to Ruggero, Wincy, Vincent and a new virgin hasher Pepper the dog. I was worried about her going through the shiggy and stairs and pylons. But with only one section needing carrying she was doing great! Her tail was wagging and she was happily walking next to her owners excited by each part of the trail. No sign of CUTR.

Then on the way down from the service reservoir onto the back of Queen Mary Hospital there was a slide down the shiggy... A few of us were on our butts but Pepper was on four feet running down.

Then the trail went onto a long stretch of road and up the usual boar trail to the Rambos and wimps split. I crossed the road and saw the split went left with the Rambos and saw an arrow pointing up into a crazy shiggy that led to estate above. I could hear animals in the bush and thought of all the boar attacks recently. Couldn't find any markings... Sussed out possible ways up and thought forget this it's too dangerous especially with the boars in the dark. So went to do the wimps... on the wimps trail down I didn't seen many markings as they had been washed out. But halfway saw Ruggero who was running around trying to find his way back without going through the crazy shiggy fence squeezing lollipop out trail. So I pointed him the direction and decided I'd better go back and see if Wincy, Vincent and Pepper were ok as they were not local and probably wouldn't know how to get back without markings.

When I went back I found the true Rambo trail which was on the other side of the road so I followed it and caught up to the trio running happily up the road to mount Davis. There was another fun country trail and then on the way down saw the hopeless (Octo) trail a steep slide down the hill... I thought forget this and went the normal way but apparently Hopeless took it and nearly sliced his fingers grabbing onto the wires.

Finally we ran out into an open field where apparently Pipe Rider didn't see the rude ditch and had a hash crash. The way out was two options using the bin to jump-over the fence or once again a body bending crawl through the hole in the fence. Vince chose the bin, the rest of us chose the hole. Pepper was trying to go under but without a space big enough she also jumped through the hole. A big Happy Birthday message to Wayne sign and view welcomed us as we ran back to A.

There we were welcomed by surprisingly CUTR (did this guy even run?) And a gourmet buffet of fruit, cookies, and Haagan Daaz ice cream provided by HBS! That's why he needed the ice on a freeZing night! Thanks to the hare for a tremendous effort and a very body bending, leg stretching, high jumping, adventurous trail!
