Write-up - Snatch Catcher

Gone are the days that the LSW hash had a start time of 7pm

My office having now moved to Quarry Bay, I was quite pleased to be getting ready to don hash gear as the clock chimes 6pm, thinking I will be able to start with majority of the hashers

But no! After barely making the 1840h ferry, and arriving at 720pm at the Lamma Island Tin Hau Temple sitting our area, Grateful Head and I found ourselves as (one of) the last to arrive, but of course, we could always count on CUTR to live up to his name...

In any case, finished hashers offering advice "longish", "slippery", "muddy", "take a walking stick"... raised some eyebrows and builds up on my anxiety of being out on trail for 2 hours (and being last out, last in...)

Off we went into the dark and uphill, leaving the waterfront behind. Up to the lonesome Lamma wind turbine, onto the spectacular views of HK island on a crystal clear night rinsed and cooled by the heavy afternoon downpour.

Of course I had gotten majority of the checks wrong, as well as falling foul of the check backs! But it was an enjoyable trot through a tourist-free Lamma: a running tour of the range of residential options available, including a $5,000 per month shed in the middle of nowhere, multi-million $$ Lamma village houses and "7th month open house" to the 'homes' perched on the sides of hill...

We arrived back to a well behaved (unusually quiet) gathering of vintage LSW hashers, drinking fancy sparkling wine. A classic Lamma trail, well marked, great mix of terrain including runnable trails some slippery and muddy bits thrown in to raise some hair, but reasonable elevation and distance *ahem* for a lovely 'away' midweek run to decompress.

Thanks very much to Macau Drunk and Castrato for gamely stepping in to hare at the last min!
