The "A" was located a long distance from the Cheng Sha Wan MTR exit, as the hare Screwtop sought to fix a location near the start of the hill climbs, and as the public closure of local gyms negated the ability to use public shower amenities.

The run set off towards a steep set of stairs, passing eventually along an underpass that connected the familiar overpass that leads to the unnamed temple on the hill side of the busy freeway.

Confusion over the trail was eventually sorted by climbing the steep steps leading to the next busy road above and a false trail directive to the left which was cut off by a "T". The idea seemed to be that monkeys were not on the run agenda this evening.

The next set of trail instructions were to appear across the highway, next to the petrol station. A split suggested an uphill direction, which indeed paid off for the lead runner on scene.

A long uphill trail, punctuated by areas of steep terrain would challenge the pack to find flour in the darkness. Cresting at the top, the pack found itself once again on territory that was covered only a week earlier. So familiar was this territory that front runner Dame Invader would soon follow last week's check and head left into the bamboo forest, calling "trail" as his eye's caught glimpses of the ageing flour laid by Lost In Space.

Logic was also lost on Hopeless who put forward the concept that the week-old check was a "double-bluff" by the hare to fool the front runners. It turns out Screwtop only needed to allow anxiety of the monkey virus to play with reason. For in fact the true trail formed a right-hand direction, flowing for a good 3km of solid trail running in the cool conditions. A check at about the 4km mark indicated the start of another section that would lead runners uphill to a twiggy bit that would intersect eventually to a traversing section and eventually a check on the paved road. The true trail followed lower, not upper as instinct suggested. Eventually the trail intersected with a "Rambos" leading back to the harbour side of the city and away from the monkey section, reuniting the "Supers" with the regular "Rambos".

The section that followed was a classic Eagles' Nest traverse, and onto a familiar descending pitch to the lower reaches. A section of sidewalk and overpasses eventually led a hard-to-crack check that had left earlier runners mystified with the lament of "No Idea" etched in chalk under the halogen glare from the passing vehicles. Future generations of runners, having evolved from the earlier debacle in the bamboo forest made patient and resourceful work to solve the check, which led downward immediate under the overpass.

A long run through the bus stop area eventually connected to the roadw which lashed another 1-plus kilometre to the run distance. Markings were overall very well done, notwithstanding the anchor bias of runners to follow old flower into the gloom of the monkey forest.
