Thankfully, after waking up to rain, the sun sort of came out and gave Lost in space a good start for setting the run. I was a little unnerved when he told me he started to set at 10.30, got 2 buses to go back and set some other parts and still only finished at 6.30! Being positive, I knew that meant that the run would be very well marked....ummm.

It got interesting even before the briefing. Getting beers lead us to huge q's as all of Hong Kong decided that panic buying of toilet rolls, tissues, rice and cleaning products was the way to go. Who was making the curry was all I wanted to know for everyone to stock up so badly? Ice was obviously also in demand as there were none available in 3 shops and I thought that the mandatory water bottle throwing might occur before we even set off for the run.

A very brief briefing, 'usual markings and red ribbon on Rambo's trail' sent us off past all the panic shoppers. We went up passed Caritas Hospital as told to do by LIS who had a much funnier Mexican way of pronouncing it. Taken over a footbridge as a group and the first check became the group separator. I found true trail off a narrow path and called back thinking the hashers behind me would mark, forgetting that it was Dame Invader and CUTR behind me so of course no markings set down (of course I'm not taking any blame here!!). That lead the rest of the group to take a while to find the trail. BMT admitted to being so scared of the monkeys after a bad experience setting trail recently that if Ruggero turned around at one point, he might have been even more scared as she was determined to be hot on his heels and might even have had her teeth bared like the monkeys.

I took a wrong trail on an open check and wasn't quite sure where I was within the group. Up a trail path and over a main road to metal steps that takes us up a very steep incline, (it felt like about 45 degrees) on the right of a pipe. I saw CUTR disappear up the steps, having lost Dame invader but soon lost CUTR. He said he somehow went up the left of the pipe, but that seemed dense shiggy to me and no trail markings. Going up this section, I have to admit, I didn't enjoy it as much as if others were with me as often lost my footing. Getting to the top and found Dame Invader struggling to find trail. Quite surprisingly, we ended up as a good team, Dame invader setting a very fast pace for me, and me finding trail which he missed so we were able to keep together which I was grateful for as at times it was hard to find trail.... sorry LIS.

Really enjoyable bamboo Rambo's trail giving us an extra 2 km to run, getting back on the main path at about 6km. Denvy arrived late but was able to catch up and overtake most others, and CUTR ran on his own only loosing trail towards the end going through the last residential section.

We went off trail 2x going after red ribbon which wasn't the path we were meant to look for, unfortunately leading Denvy on a long detour but she soon took off at a quick pace when she realised, we were backtracking.

Gin 'n Vomit who also turned up late but perhaps found the others at the first check, BMT and Hopeless kept as a group and benefitted from Hopeless's knowledge of the area. Allegedly, GnV said 'I enjoyed the pace' and as she was the one that set it in her group, I'm glad she did. Some thought the trail was going to lead to Eagles nest, but it took us over Golden Hill road on the Maclehose trail section 6 between Kowloon Byewash reservoir and Kowloon reservoir. An enjoyable runner's run all the way back to the bucket to find Lost in Space very spaced out to a cold (no we are not going to worry) and Lost in Translation who reassured me, saying she too couldn't find ice.

A sharing of a sarong or just bearing bums not caring, got us all changed waiting for the return of Bobbledick not quite knowing if he was on the Rambo's or wimps trail. We set off for food a little late hoping he would make a show and I think also coz no one wanted to carry his 10 ton bag.... thankfully he arrived just as we were getting out of the park.... CUTR trying to hand back his bag but Bobbledick quite happy to let him carry it.... he's not stupid, that man!

A very quiet restaurant and a pick of the tables, good food and should have been short down downs but there was too much material for the hare (who drank Jasmin tea instead of beer.... good job too coz he might have needed carrying home) and CUTR decided to do extended down downs and interject with political comments or questions and discussion about tinder and grinder.... don't ask!

Overall a lovely run, although a few more well placed marks might have helped, with good shiggy, views, a mix of elevation and good sections of just flat running done by a man obviously struggling with a cold.... still not worrying. Thank you, LIS.
