Were most LSW hashers already on their way out of HKG for Christmas or did thay all have an idea what this run from Wai Chi would entail. After all, Diamond Hill, the closest MTR station is at the foot of Kowloon Peak. And if one is lookking for Shiggy trails, which is what LSW is all about, then there is only one way to go and that is up ..... Kowloon Peak. Furthermore, the walk in to the START of some 10mins gradually upwards to the Po Kong Village elevated cycle track, took us ever nearer the mountain.

Fortunately for most, the start time was put back to 7:10pm. But this scribe still arrived some 10mins late. This due to his thinking it quicker to take one bus directly to Diamond Hill. But after not knowing which end of the MTR was which, he managed to sort himself out and about 15mins later found a lonely hare and just 6 bags on arrival under the elevated cycle track. 5 regular hashers and 2 newish runners had already set out. After a quick briefing, I set out not knowing which of the W1, W2, R1 or R2 running options to take. Fortunately, my mind was distracted by noticing that I had company......in the form of an even later Octopussy. We wended our way together out of the park, up the road and then through a series of housing blocks , these with many flights of concrete steps and across paved platforms where the trail was somewhat difficult to follow due to being worn by the many commuters arrivng home. Finally, it was out on to shiggy and up, up and up, fortunately on many rough concrete steps and easy to follow all the way to Shatin Pass Rd.

Here, Octopussy courageously set off right to find the W2 option, while BobbleDick decided to stick with W1. By keeping to the shortest route he hoped to catch up with the front runners at some point and avoid being accused of delaying the social side of the evening. However, he wasn't alone for long before Octo rejoined, having failed again to find trail, now two weeks running! It was down Shatin Pass road to the much loved dai pai dong, used frequently during Trailwalker training in the old days. These two worked in tandem to find their way back and home for 9pm, having been out for about 90mins. However, the bad news was that Brother Anus and Marcel were still out! The two were tracked on Hopeless' very smart phone and the decision was made when they got close about one hour later, to have the DDs at the bucket.
