So, the last time Gary Glitter set a run in Tung Chung, he set a new record for elevation gain .. tonight he promised no such shenanigans ..

At the briefing, Gary kicked into instructor mode, "Its a runners run, 3 split/rejoins .. I set it over two days, but I'd say its about 7km Wimps and a couple more k for the Rambos. All checks are closed apart from one which I thought it might be fun to leave open".

So off we went, across the road around the corner to the left and onto the first, open check at the shopping arcade .. which is a large circular arena .. haha very funny Gary .. but there a dozen ways to go and the pack are soon distressing the shoppers with their shouts of "RU" and "Checking". Mysteriously, the pack thins out .. their on-on calls "lost on the wind" .. leaving myself, Hopeless, Blow by T*ts and a few others a bit lost .. for about 10 minutes.

Eventually, we find the white chalk marks on the white concrete path and we are off again towards the Waterfront playground .. and .. lost again. A little local knowledge from Hopeless "well, the shiggy is that way" and we pick up trail heading towards the ferry pier. There .. we lost trail again. Hopeless found the in-trail, none of the rest of us found anything until Lost in Space came walking past us a few meters away, "On-On" he called to the stunned pack. Less haste, more speed I think ..

Soon, we were off along the coast (very pleasant!) to the first split. Thinking about the time we lost on the waterfront, we all opted for wimps which look us away from the coast, up a set of stairs and over the hill to a split at the road. Given there were stairs, I was a little slower, reaching the road to hear the "On on" call to the right and Blow my T*ts rejoining a few minutes later from the left. Soon there were just the two of us, BMT disappearing off into the distance through the T and off to set her own trail .. "Hey" I shout and after a little protesting, she rejoins me through the shiggy, over the rubbish tip (thanks for the markings on the plywood "see-saw"), through the village, past the group of fishermen enjoying their hot pot supper and over the bridge over the inlet. Nice section!

Just before the split we rejoined Dr Evil and no-name Marcel, all of us wimped. This took us to the main Yu Tung Road until we cut up through the housing estate. A little confusion on the trail (!) but we persevered, across the bridge and onto a small road behind the hospital. Lots of commuters returning from work .. which could only mean one thing .. we were close to the station and A!

Around the back of the cable car station, we bump into a very lost Octopussy. "I've looked for ages, been here, there and there", she says pointing. Strangely the pack saw the marking immediately, pointing over the fence. "Oh" says a crestfallen Octo, "I didn't think it would go that way!". A little bit of a trail, a couple of hops over some crash barriers, a bit of human Frogger across the highway and then, yeh! we were back at A.

Wimps had around 9km, as did most Rambos, but one had 11km+. Gary sets a new distance record in Tung Chung!

All comments, suggestions and feedback were soon forgotten as Gary rustled up probably the best Pizza in Western HK!! Nice run Gary!

Down Downs by Hopeless

With the pizza finally eaten - even the slices with pineapple on, and Indy arriving like the Queen of Sheba, in her Uber, DDs could commence.

Obviously the Hare was doused several times for, in no particular order, poor marking, not marking his corners, poor marking, pizza with pineapple on, not buying enough Carlsberg, and to finish off, an 11km run. Luckily it is "winter time" so Hannah Montana was brought in for wearing sandals on one of the coldest nights of the year, so far.

Our pilots were brought in, Lost In Space and Pig Fokker. Pig Fokker managed to break the window in his Lear Jet, giving him the perfect excuse to fly back to Holland for 4 weeks tonight, leaving his employer with a HK$50,000 bill to fix it. Also on a plane, flown in from a business trip, was Cream Me Up Scotty. He was brought in along with Pig Fokker and Dame Invader for extoling the virtues of Indonesian "Brown Bunnies" and how their half European children would look fantastic (to the next generation of western predators, no doubt!).

As for the run, Blow My Tits was less than impressed by the first Open Check and the disappearing trail at the ferry pier....... "sod the splits after that mess" she cried, going for a triple Wimp run. Lost In Space finally found trail, DD for you, Sir, while the FRBs were duly punished for lack of calling.....

Of course we had to have in Birthday Girl, Indy. "Club of '56" were brought in as well, LIS and Gary Glitter....... and Hopeless who never got the tee shirt on that hash run. Thermal Dick couldn't do his maths and toasted the three '56'ers on their 64th birthdays....... Lost At Sea was toasted for having the skill to be out of town for Indy's birthday, and avoiding a romantic meal at Felix, or Nicholini's....... "McDonald's more like!" quipped Indy. Of course Indy had to weigh in with a few of her own DDs, not least to her new BFF - Dame Invader. BFFs seem to be changing hands quickly with Gary Glitter changing friends every 5 minutes - basically to anyone who liked his run tonight. Thermal Dick was congratulated on surviving the birthday lunch by letting his wife "take one for the team" and sitting with Indy for 3 hours in the Yacht Club so he could go to the hash (and avoid going deaf in one ear).

We had two Marcel's at the hash, DD for no name Marcel and Willy Stripper who may well become a LSWH3 regular.

Octopussy congratulated the hare for giving her a shortcut which meant she was with the FRBs', and thus missed the delights of "that Open Check".

Rooted was (commiserated) on the prospect of her first 50km race this Saturday, getting through a hash without a crash this week..... good luck!

Then The Hare, Beer B*tch and Thermal tried to sing The Song....... and so it was, run #2254.
