Directions to start clear enough except if you cock up the MTR exit Taking C1 instead of C2, where you end up in some housing estate. Google maps to rescue, and sure enough LSW markings found from correct exit to the start. The hares well organised, all washed and brushed up, ready for the evening’s main event the run, more on that later. O Sh!t bit concerned on having too much beer, never too much beer, and so it would turn out in the end. Discussion then turned to monkeys on trail and what to expect being attacked in packs, suggestions of staring them out, hold on to your nuts (one for the lads), keep your fruit to yourself, set the dogs on them or just harden the f”@k up and walk through them as the brave hashers we are. Run briefing well delivered by Blow My T*ts to about 15-20 hashers ready for the off (even Indy was JIT arrival) Monkey alert given again. We were told around 5 and 6.5 k runs for Wimps and Rambo’s respectively, split around 3k and level of difficulty not too dissimilar, as before split we would all endure the same challenge. How right the hares were. Since Hopeless free run were spared the smart arsed predictions of where the trail would take us. Garmin set to the ready and we were off. FRB’s CFF and Telecum straight out the block and both like rats up a drain pipe. That’s the last I saw of them, although did hear a bit of calling early on from Telecum, and even the Dane was in good voice, actually shouting on trail rather than his usual Circle antics. Once through the shopping throng, with a Check or 2 on the way, pack opened up as we hit the foot bridge going over route 7 Ching Cheung Road and taking us into mystic monkey land. It was just over the footbridge that Crack Pot had the panicked look, monkey sighted, what one, a pack or even 12 monkeys, and it was about this time I was expecting Bruce Willis to pop his head from behind the tree and give us an all clear in true Die-Hard style. Alas not to be and left for me to calmly escort Crack Pot alongside said SINGLE monkey ably assisted by Tight Lips illuminating the way for us. Monkey crisis over we now start to venture on what would become the accent, step after step up and up, but not before FRB’s got trail wrong, like headless chickens, racing for who can come first, not for me I am afraid. O’ Bollocks found true trail and then up some very slippery shiggy with not too much to hang onto, made more difficulty by the dry conditions. I recalled some shouting in the distance and getting brushed aside by Wai Chi chasing the Dane, but then silence. FRB’s gone and I found myself running with Crack Pot & Tight Lips, but I hung back as the gossip got a bit intense, as it can when the girls get going. Think I overheard something about a Trudeau/Trump bust up from the Canadian, with the Brit pitching in on what kn@bs both Johnson & Corbyn are. Enough of political ranting, so on to trail very pleasant, but the Garmin was absent in pinging the first couple K’s and seemed as though been on trail for ages (may be something to do with all those steps up!) On to the split and I decided to take the Wimps option for the long downward descent. At this point some indecision from the ladies as to what trail to do then they decided to follow me. Steps steep and a bit small for those with large feet. Down & down we went, still absent of any real distance back onto the foot bridge route 7. Got a bit confused around the bus stabling area, but Crack Pot found trail and quite straight forward run in, so long as you kept your eyes open for the fading chalk and sparse flour. I got total of 4.1 Km, short of what hares informed us, and seems the Rambo’s short changed too. Enjoyable run, and perhaps shorter distance expectation not a bad thing with all that elevation and the steep descent. Thanks hares for the run. Down Downs by Indy The hares - Blow My T*ts / Oh Sh*t .....And the run? Fab!! Well planned and interesting.....but the crowd cried!! 'Not enough steps up! or down!!!' Not enough monkeys!!' OS - You did it again!! I rely on you for my 711 run??? What happened to those markings?? BMT - dobbed in by hubby OS.....'She did not really know the area ..but just fancied setting a run from there....so loads of reccies later'!! OS - had said to yours truly Indy that thought the 'run' was fairly easy.....and not too many steps uphill!!! Gary Glitter / Yours truly - 'Not too many steps up....??? to the heavens??'....GG and I must have been on an alternate run???? Babbledock - had commented on the shiggy uphill trail marking...'Why put blobs of flour in the middle of the trail for all hashers to put their big feet in and disperse flour..... BD - and when marking on curvy trail put mark on inside curve...not outside!! BD - the self-appointed expert on marking Telecum / Dame Invader - who put down the RS2H3 marking?? Blow My T*ts / Oh Sh*t - what was all that monkey business about!!! So many on the run.... (and that was besides the hashers.....He He!....) Oh Sh*t - when setting run was bitten by a dog as well as being chased by monkeys.... BMT / OS - As for that last horrid angular steppy bit to get down to road.... O’Bollocks - pirouetted down that with feet sort of on path but leaning into slope.... (yours truly Indy went down on her arse!!.....leave nothing to chance!!) Returnee - O’Bollocks / Telecum...Long time no see on LSW!! Welcome back....don't be strangers!! Visitor - Likk'MM...from Switzerland!! Hopeless - (in absentia).....no fridge dinging tonight as looking after Lost In Translation in Tseung Kwan O hospital Octopussy - visited LIT in hospital that day but late as thought that TKO hospital was in TKO......and not Hang Hau??? (only ran past it 4 weeks ago...' 'Indy I don't look up when I run!!') Crackpot - also thought that TKO hospital was in TKO...... (even though she has often gone past it for a couple of wee drams at the Hopeless/LIT Clearwater Bay Loveshack!) GG - taking notes throughout DDs...not to write up DDs, but to add more info interest to his run report!! So hard working!!! Comes Up the Rear - late to run... Lost In Space to BD - with Hopeless away ...BD is now one up on him for run count!! Comes Up the Rear to BMT / OS - Setting run up past Eagles Nest!!! Was that PC ??
