Hare - Hannah Montana
Write-up - DHL

The peeps - Barely Legal, Cupid Stunt, DHL, Cheesy, CUTR, Minja Turtle, Dr Evil, LIT, Octo, Scrubber, Hopeles, Freewheel, Crash

Heading out from Wai Chi street playground, a couple checks and a checkback kept the pack close. Trail found heading up Garden Hill, a tricky check at the top solved by going outside the fence. Felt like we were already leaving the city behind but then pop back out on to the road and a bit more city. Two more slow to solve checks almost back to back with each other had a frustrated pack cursing the hare, but eventually trail found going under highway 7 and along Yin Ping Rd, to finally leave the city behind for real.

Up up up we went. This first of two long steep climbs took us up to Eagle's Nest trail junction. Overheard Hopeless and LIT remembering coming down this same trail on a previous Hanna Montana, leading to Hopeless's exactly accurate prediction of what was to come. Right on to the contour heading toward Beacon Hill, to the 2nd Rambo / Whimps split at Lung Yan Rd. Hopeless and LIT had already decided they didn't need to go up and down Beacon Hill shiggy tonight, and took the road down with Octo and Crash Test and maybe others. I continued up, catching up to Minja and Barely Legal. Managed to insert foot in mouth with the comment "If I wasn't so dumb I would have listened to the smart people instead of... uh... following you... uh, I didn't meant that the way it sounded...", as I felt even dumber.

Another long climb brought us up to Beacon Hill peak. Onto the road and just starting to head down when the FRBs Cheesy and Come Up The Rear came running back up from a checkback further down the road. The checkback was so we'd see the really fantastic view up there, beautiful night for clear sweeping views of Kowloon, the harbor, and Hong Kong island. Everything lit up for the 8pm light show. Blessed the hare for timing the trail well to set us up for such a treat (I'm totally sure it was on purpose, right Hanna??).

Finding trail again we started a crazy descent through dense steep shiggy. Cheesy and CUTR pulled away from Minja, BL, Dr. Evil and me. Got to a little intermediate spot where I noticed something a little weird about the marks. But, as I was in last and with a weak torch, I hurried along after the others. Passed a pack of local young climbers out there climbing what looked like a really challenging face. A bit further and here come Cheesy and CUTR heading back, saying we were following the 2nd Whimps trail in reverse. DHL goes from last to first! But only briefly as Cheesy slides by to retake the lead. Back to that off mark, and on closer inspection we were supposed to continue down. Down through easier shiggy and onto long sets of steps back down to a road. The road turns out to be the off ramp from the highway, and the trail unbelievably leads onto the highway for a couple hundred meters, running against traffic in the service lane! Bold move hare!

A pedestrian overpass takes us out of danger, and then onto a long paved descent all the way back into A. CUTR and I were flying down this last stretch, for me at least a joy to run so fast with a FRB to finish a hash. Into the finish where Cheesy and some of the already finished Whimps were waiting for us. Great run, great hashers, nice trail, awesome view, another great night on the LSW!

See y'all again when I'm back in January! Take care and hash on LSWH3!
