It was good to see such a mix of hashers on this week's LSW run........ from the most regular LSW-ers to attendees from other hashes and a 1st time runner. And the hares for this hash (in my absence!) have become regular runners on LSW. Its good to see such hashers setting runs..... or was this down to constant coercing by our hair-raiser?

Fortunately, when the briefing came along, the instructions given out by the hares were very detailed. Indeed, so detailed that the huddle of anxious infrequent hashers prevented the regulars including this scribe to get a look in. The only announcement of concern which did silence the pack, and which I was able to hear, was that the trail markings would be somehow mixed with existing Kowloon hash markings from their run earlier in the week.

Mei Foo is an excellent place to start a run, with the hills and Kowloon reservoirs on hand. So as predicted, the trail headed straight for the hills! And the pack seemed determined to get there as soon as possible. They charged down the main road dodging pedestrians, columns supporting the road overhead and street vendors. And most were very soon out of sight. The main road (the Eagles Nest Road) which we shortly joined started climbing at which point the few hashers around me started walking. After two crossings of rather hazardous slip roads, trail left the main road on a path to head up into the hills. I soon found myself coming up behind Thermal D*ck, walking up the concrete path and finding the path rather steep, had to start walking myself. But Thermal got away from me. He seemed to have a top gear in reserve and left me in his wake...... still walking! But after the trail had wended its way thru the reservoirs and up to a contour path, I came up behind him again. The Wimp/Rambo split was upon us and Thermal, most unusually, decided to take the 7km Wimps while I continued on the Rambos, said to be 9kms.

The Rambos consisted of a 2kms loop of trail comprising climbing, contouring, and short lengths of catchwater and shiggy. Relief to the climbing and contouring came "at 8 pm" in the form of an amazingly clear view of the lights of Wanchai including Central Plaza "complete with a laser light show". And then, lo and behold, once round the next ridge I had to stop to admire an equally remarkable view of the IFC and the rest of Central. I continued on my own, coming across few if any checks, to rejoin the Wimps. After passing a couple of stragglers on the descent, either photo taking or navigating, trail joined and then crossed Castle Peak Rd. A 1km ON-IN followed the main road back to Lai Chi Kok park.

A very enjoyable run! Thanks hares......
