Shau Kei Wan LiT's FB photos Life Begins at 40 or so the saying goes, and I believe this is true for LSW. 69 hashers attend the Anniversary event - with such a lucky number there can be no doubt that life has just begun! The briefing by the hares is precisely that - all open Checks and all the usual markings with the exception of one arrow style. “Do Not Follow” was the headline, otherwise you will end up on the Chinese walkers trail and almost certainly never return!!! With that thought in mind the pack set off. The first Check was resolved too easily as virtually everyone missed all the coastal museum armaments we were meant to see. On then to the steep incline which had most hashers grinding to a much slower pace or complete stop in Brother Anµs’s case! Macau Drunk (F) also opting to slow the pace and eagerly awaited at the top by son Brody - “Come on Mum” was the call. “I’m tired, you go” and with that off he went - good lad! From the top, we descend into a shiggy trail and I’m running behind Phillipe, lovely young man. Working our way through, I blindly grab at a tree stump to pull myself up only to grab a thorn that shoots right through the centre of my hand. “F*ck, that hurt”, followed by several more expletives… then a few more! I apologise unreservedly to Philippe that he had to witness the bad language and wrath of a middle aged woman who had been attacked by a large prick! Strangely enough, I didn’t see Phillipe for the rest of the run! The next Check proved particularly tricky with all directions apparently already covered by the FRB’s, 10 minutes pass and all options seemingly exhausted there is eventually a call from Poledancer and Joshua from a direction checked at least twice already! The FRB’s are off - Cheesy flies past, of course, together with CUTR, Crème Brûlée and Master Wanker racing down the road. I can only just see them in the distance when suddenly, a “Check Back” call is made from Who the F*ck is Christine - where????? A very discreet (by that I mean small) Check Back sign albeit in the middle of the road. Oh dear, the FRB’s had run straight past it - a warm glow comes over me briefly as I think they will eventually have to come all the way back up the long road - well, we won’t see them for a while. Or will we??? Of course we will, less than 5 minutes passes and they’re back! In fairness, I think all the Check Backs were resolved by the FRB’s! This starts me thinking, there are several hashers I have overtaken at least 4 times now. They’re all KH3 hashers, Cupid Stunt, Whores Drawers, Longhorn and Shorthorn - the Check hoggers, very good at asking which directions have been checked but don’t move more than 5 meters from the Check itself! I know what you’re thinking - I’m deluded because KH3 hashers don’t do Rambos, well clearly some of them do but perhaps not Checks (Poledancer excepted)! The next part of the run is lovely, country paths, downhill steps and home is seemingly closer. Thanks to Monkey Business for running with me and keeping me motivated for the last few hundred metres in her LBD and shoes! At the finish I’m panting, red faced and drenched in sweat only to be greeted by Oh Sh!t, Fanny Sniffer and Free F*ck, looking fresh as daisies, sipping beer and openly chatting about being SCB’s on the wimps!! Sometimes, I just despair! Huge thanks to hares Lost in Translation and Hopeless for an excellent trail. Demon Checks that kept everyone together and guessing - complimented with elevation, views and shiggy! What was not to love? ONON to The (New) Curry Pot in Sai Wan Ho for traditional English fare and beers subbed by LSWH3 Hash Cash! Down Downs by Indyanus Welcome to the 40th Anniversary of LSW, and the CNY Run!! The hares - Hopeless / Lost In Translation..... the 'most awesome 40th LSW Anno Run' ever!!! Hopeless / LIT - All hashers agreed that both Wimps and Rambos trails were 'Most Awesome'!!.... Hopeless - in briefing.... "'All trails are 'mostly flat''.. so what is your definition of flat when both the W and R trails had up up up and down down down!?? Hopeless - 'Well if you equal out the uphill and downhill then it is on average flat!!' Que?? Comes Up The Rear / Dr Evil - completing the R trail in just over an hour as FRB's... Hopeless had predicted 35 mins for Cheesy Flying Fox (in absentia!) The Coalman - sabotaging the W trail by putting K (Kowloon hash sign) on hash markings! Oh Sh!t to The Coalman - And he even put a K marking on my back as thought I was moving too slowly!!!.. like I was a lamppost !!! As if..... The Coalman / Free F*ck / Oh Sh!t - shortcutting the W trail and leading others with them!! Randy Von Fokker - being beaten by son Jules on the R trail! Screwtop - sending her younger son Leon out to solve the Checks..... he came back exhausted!! 'Mum kept getting me to run further / faster...' Hopeless to Phil The Gut - “Years ago he was named Phil the Gut due to his beer gut!! 20 years ago he became a teetotaler and lost 40 kgs.... so can now fit into the S size shirt of his LSW Run 700... Free Wheel - On Wimps trail when Yours Truly Indy was calling On On..... could not understand her Strine 'Oin Oin'!... so was calling out something in Yankee language ... LSW returnees - Barbie / Willy Wonker / Fanny Sniffer / Master W@nker / Randy Von F / Natalie / Headlamp / Phil the Gut / Dr Evil / Cupid Stunt Hopeless / Bobbledick - Hopeless has been trying to annihilate BD for a couple of years to ensure he will have the ‘most awesome honour’ of having completed the most number of LSW hash runs.... Hopeless - Thanks for organizing LSW 40th Hash Anno shirts with Top Run Locations and Roll Of Honour 400+ Runs ... And the LSW hasher with most number of runs!!
