LSW 2200th Run - Wanchai

I arrived at A which is Lockhart Road playground and it had been mentioned in the run notice this will be 2200 run and the Hare advised this starting point wasn’t used since 31 Dec 14. (Fake News?? some debate about this during the circle so I am sure we will learn the truth).

A good size group wearing a few layers prior to the run as was a cool evening even CFF was sporting a long sleeve shirt.

Hopeless gathered the group a few min after 7pm and advised 28 years ago he started his first LSW #1 Hash at this exact spot and he advised he tried to recreate the similar run from that day in 1990. He also made the comment that SSHT and Pole Dancer may especially enjoy this run.

So now 7:05 and we told the out trail was through the Lockhart rd exit and up the footbridge - the hashers dashed off and first check on the footbridge was quickly solved with another check at the bottom of footbridge on QRE. Most the pack headed up Monmouth Path but true trail was up Justice drive. Up to Kennedy road where a check back had the front runners now with the middle pack. The hashers quickly ran Kennedy road and another check back with trail up a ladder to MacDonnell road. Here is where Wai Chi Kok, a headless chicken, crossed the road and nearly was hit by a car… guess she really wanted to 'win' the hash today.

Went up - and following was following the FRB lights and I hear Go Bi Lo scream - NO SHORTCUTTING back to our group / so me and SSHT did the full trail while the others shortcutted (yes this was you WCK)

From there it was up up to stairs than a bunch of shiggy with crawling under and carefully stepping over fallen trees - so still remnants of super typhoon Mangkhut - Octo had now caught with the back pack I was in now.

Onto the road under Magazine Gap Service Reservoir and I could see that that the FRBs were fooled as a bunch or markings with true trail pointing to the Dutch Path.

We ran the Dutch Path about 1/3 way to Wanchai Gap road and then markings down the steps past the Power Line Towers - I was thinking I know this path will be an easy jaunt down to Bowen Road.

How wrong I was - this trail was totally destroyed by Mangkhut - and I'm sure this also surprised our Hare who later admitted he didn’t reccy…. We were climbing over trees - on our backs and ass sliding below brush - super slow going. I was able to catch up to Blow My Tits who was confused if should go over or under a felled tree - and begins to go over but after seeing a 2 metre drop comes back and decided to crawl on her knees (where I'm told she has some experience) under the tree.

Finally down to Bowen road and I see the FRBs went right and then came back and marked left. Was now a fast run down Bowen Drive to Kennedy road - a clever u-turn and then down the stairs that led to Sun Street - were some film crew had set up and we ran right over their equipment as the street was packed.

Then was a 'race' back through wanchai with SSHT, new comer Remi (3rd time), myself and Timbits sprinting into Lockhart Road - just under 1 hour 6km and 300 mts elevation.

We are the last runners to arrive (wimps already in - heard that Malcolm was proudly the first Wimp in) and had a group photo just as the LSW 2200 Fireworks started to explode above our heads.

Well done Hare for a fun shiggy run on trails I hadn't done since the supertypoon - totally changed the dynamics.

On On to 2300
