A group of anxious and curious hashers gathered at the Aldridge Park sheltered area to hear the briefing of the virgin hare Pun Tang and his co hare Wai Chee Kok. Nervous as one never knows what a virgin hare’s trails will be like... extreme or easy, well marked or not.. especially when they were rumoured to be setting trail in a similar area to last week’s run where there were already multiple markings.

Then Pun Tang starts on his briefing our anxiety grew as Wai Chee started saying something about the Rambos if they find the climb too difficult to go back and loop and down to a trail..?? Oh dear ??.. then there was something about if you are not thin then don’t take the Rambos... (ok no political correctness here..) then to stress people out more they said if you are doing one of the Wimps you need to stay behind!! We were forced to make a decision immediately whether to do double Rambos and the potentially frightening climb for skinny people or stay back and end up losing time as the Rambos were to set off first. Never one to stay back I in faith set off with the Rambos...

The trail was quite well marked keeping the pack together for many checks. Then we headed up to the hills on an interesting shiggy trail that was near last week’s doubly marked run. No confusion today as the trail was clean and very clearly this week’s LSW run. No other markings were there. We enjoyed the views then started towards the scary second Rambos. I was running in front of LIT when suddenly she screamed ‘SNAKE’ I looked back she was jumping and flashing her light but I could only see her dancing around with her flashlight (maybe cos it’s Diwali) but I couldn’t see any snake... but others were gingerly running past it... Not long after that was the second split. Greatly emboldened by my ability to run past a snake without seeing or freaking out. I boldly went where I’ve never gone before onto the second Rambos and the climb.. but when facing the rocks, fear gripped me .. yet when I saw Brother Anus in front of me courage arose again cos if he could do it... I definitely could...

The first part was indeed interesting going under a rock and then up onto another rock requiring strong toes to balance and a helpful push from a not yet named hasher. The need to be skinny was realised as the gap between the two rocks was so narrow that one needed to stand sideways and then leave some room to lift legs to get up onto the ledge. The last risky section involved using a rope to semi abseil or slide down over a boulder on ones bottom.

After this scary section we shiggied up to the trail and it was a nice run back.. but somehow a few hashers Basil and Gobi Lo missed the turn off and ran all the way to Shaukeiwan and their own trail back to A.

At A we were welcomed back by a dummy spitting Slippery Edge a non running Jonathan with a ruined back sporting a Father Christmas beard and two anxious hares. Great run for the virgin Pun Tang and great marking for Wai Chee Kok!
