The Briefing
This was held on the balcony of an old indoor market overshadowed by 2 giant phallic chimneys spotted by Pig Fokker. The Dutch, always the first to spot them!

Well, it seems like Burning Lust has had a few jars already judging by the strange symbols drawn and they were not the usual standard LSW arrows. These arrows had an “x” for tails. It turns out that he had bastardised the Southside hash markings, which he was the Hare in the previous week. He explained that there was a Rambo and Wimp split earlier on the run, with the usual checks and check backs. But he introduced a new marking, “3M” and it symbolizes reflective tapes on the shiggy part of the trail. He probably nicked it from the Moontrekker run I reckon.

He continued and said on the Rambo, there was some climbing involved with all fours and pointed out he’d marked out the footings to help with the climb. With that said, we were ready to go and headed off to the stairwell.

The Run
Down 4 floors of stairs, we headed left out of the building along Shau Kei Wan Main Street with the tram terminus on our right. By this time Cheesy Flying Fox and Pole Dancer had vanished into the night. I followed the pack and it was not long when we arrived at the locked gate that led up to a thousand steps on Yiu Hin Road.

Rooted was in front of me. She, like the others before her, twisted and contorted their way around the locked gate like some possessed demon in a horror movie. I chose to climb over and not before I was halfway through, Hopeless complained about how he was going to do this with his injured ankle. We couldn’t offer up anything, so we ignored him and pressed on, up those endless steps.

At the top of the steps, the R &W split appeared. Rambos took the shiggy route and Wimps, the steps. It was not long before we reached some rocks/boulders we were warned about at the briefing. I could see Pole Dancer scrambling up with LIT waiting. LIT let out a few choice words followed by “I need help to get up there”.

“I’ll help only if you want it”, I said. LIT was half way up struggling and then she asked for the help. With both hands on her backside, I pushed her up the rock but it was not good enough. “I ‘m falling back”, she screamed!

Out of nowhere, a large hand appeared and it shoved LIT’s backside over the rock. My turn came and when I was halfway up, the same mysterious hand appeared on my ar*e and launched me to the top of the rock. I didn’t really need my ar*e shoved as I was doing ok. So Mr. Handy, next time please shove someone else’s ar*e instead of mine or the #metoo brigade will be after you!

The climb-up took us to the Catchwater (where I lost everyone after taking a wrong turn) that lasted for about 300m before we turned right and up along a riverbed, which led onto another contour trail. It wasn’t too long before we were back in the shiggy but going down this time. The 3M tapes lit up the trail nicely, and I had caught up with LIT and Rooted. Following Rooted, she proceeded to describe every hazard and obstacle along the way fearing that I might fall and crack my head open again. Not a chance! I only fall over banal obstacles during daytime runs.

At the bottom of the shiggy we hit the same Catchwater we were on before, but there was no bridge to cross. Wait… BL – You threw a skinny branch in the water for a bridge? That worked really well. None of us got our feet wet. Not!

The Catchwater took us onto more shiggy that led down to Tai Tam Road. It was there that Octopussy and Wai Chee Kok caught us up. Crossing over to Chai Wan Road together, we ran until we reached a football pitch, losing Octo along the way. At the end of the field was the main trail, access only through a small hole in the fence. Rooted said, “How did BL get through this small hole, he is so big?” Hmm….no further comment. LIT apologized, as she was about to go through with me following. Not sure what for, other than a backside view again? No help needed this time! Wai Chee Kok followed and we joined the trail. This trail was littered with fallen branches and trees and I slammed my shoulder into one of them. F**@?**! That hurt! Rooted, where were the warnings?

Further along the trail, Thermal Dick appeared out of nowhere around the Fort, his torch ran out of juice and was walking back. No sooner had we passed TD, there was a loud squeal, Pig Fokker had crashed landed on all 4s. He was ok. We headed down the last shiggy. More cuts and bruises coming up.

The shiggy led onto the road - relief! Up ahead were steps and there were a lot of them. Going down and down and down...and on-on to the way home.

BL, the “shiggy master”, had clearly forgotten how shiggy the trail was and Rooted decided to hold his feet to the fire over this on her return. Would Rooted be cutting all of BL’s trousers again? No, he got off lightly this time and onwards to the bash later.

Known casualties
LIT – one nasty cut and badly bruised shin
Rooted – leg cuts
Wai Chee Kok – leg cut
Oral Dysentery – knee cut - bleeding
Pig Fokker – all 4 trotters (palms and knees)
Poon Tang – shoulder cut and bruised
Thermal Dick – ran empty
And many more I’m sure

Down Downs by Indi

Too much shiggy - Thermal and Rooted

The Hare – for too many steps

Short cutters – Indi and Hopeless. BL stood in for Hopeless

Rooted – for not coming to BL runs often enough

Those who got help, Indi and Poon Tang - Sticky helped Indi and Rooted helped Poon Tang through the shiggy. Octopussy stood in for Sticky

David – the guest – welcome return

David - for having white tan marks!

Aussie and Scots – all three of them

IT/software people

TD – for not remembering his last hash bash

The Hare – Malcolm spotted the joke check back –not funny

The Aussies

The Hare – at least another 6-7 down downs

TD assembled a fluorescent pearl necklace for BL, which he wore. By this time BL was well gone. Rooted got the fluorescent magical Halloween wand.

The Hare in his inebriated state sang the LSW song in an operatic style, no style, poor style, too Pi**ed to care style. Verses all mixed up and back to front. Good job! Good run.

Special request from Rooted – Lots more shiggy please!
