Sheung Wan

Hare - Gobi Lo
Write up - Tight Lips

FB photos here?

I arrived in time, to hear Gobilo, the hare announce warnings of fallen trees (no!) and she apologized for not including her virgin for trail, despite brandishing a fearsome looking Machete...... as this was still just 3 days after the Super Typhoon.

Our intrepid pack set off into the unknown, we'll to be more accurate, through the streets of Sheung Wan. A tame start I thought. Getting higher, shortcuts up steps cut off the zig zag corners of the steep roads. . . edging towards the forrest.

Unfortunately, my torch stopped working before the start, and I'd resigned myself to doing my own thing sticking to the roads. But it seemed that was not to be as wherever I turned.. to my surprise, there was the pack, up front.. erupting out the bushes, having shortcut up the steps.. . so I'd up my pace to rejoin, I was still in the game :-)))

Bit higher, and we came to the shiggy start. Decision time for me. But surrounded by LEDs and similar paced hashers.. I thought I'd give it a go. (Big thanks to those that helped me through !!)

The Philippinas cry of.. "We're in the JUNGLE, JUNGLE" ..was about right.. Should we have brought the machete..?? Was that why Gobilo had waved it as us!? It started to make sense as the trail was best suited for either very small people or contortionists. There were hanging branches, trip wires and strangle vines tree trunks, ground traps everywhere. I stated to imagine I was in a movie ... 'The Heart of Darkness"or "Apocalypse Now". I was surrounded, by strange voices, but in Tagalog.

After a long climb up through the jungle. I was wondering if we'd have a similar decent. However, we were spared this with some good trail and checks through more familiar trails on our return, winding our way back to the bins, well placed immediately next to the express lift direct to the showers on 12F. No excuses to be late for our feast at the cooked food floor just a few floors below :-)

All round a good mix of trail and road - post super Typhoon - good turnout at the ONON!
