WALOB IV or QMC Run (Que muchos cojones)

Hares - Lost in Space and Octopussy

Write-up - Big Bitch

As the namer of the WALOB runs I was fortunate to time my trip back to HK in time for WALOB 4. The first run in Nov 2011 was billed as the “Era of Good Feelings” but after that run was then called “What a load of bollocks” because there were certainly no good feelings after Run 1.

Around 20 runners turned up at the start for the eagerly anticipated WALOB4. The talk was all about where B might be, having finished at Hammer Hill and Lam Tin on previous occasions. The bags were loaded into the car along with Gonzalo who was left in the passenger seat under a mountain of bags. Off the pack went through the village and up onto the Wilson trail, just like WALOB1, I thought. I hope it is not a rerun of that first WALOB and we end up going up Fei No Shan and down Jats Incline like the first one. It was a very silent hash with very little calling! Fortunately after a couple of checks we ended up on the Ancient trail to Sai Kung, going past the house where David the photographer used to live. Down the trail to the catchment and the Rambo/Wimps split. I opted for the Wimps which took us along the catchment before heading right down through a village and fields. A right turn into a field with the water pipe and past the barking dogs before ending up on the road beside the black river. Well it used to be black from the soy sauce factory but I couldn’t see in the dark whether or not it had been cleaned up. Down the road to the main road at Marina Cove and then left. It was a hard slog along the road to the Hebe Haven Yacht Club.

The Wimps trail was good and very well marked but there was not one check on the Wimps so could not be classified as a Hash.

When we got back to B, Indy was in a panic and there was no sign of the Hares. No bins! The hares were off trying to find Welcome and buy the beers and when the first Rambo appeared there was only 2 bags of ice cubes to quench their thirst. Most of the runners didn’t seem to mind the lack of beer but were more interested in going for a shower, changed days when the priority is a shower! Fortunately the hares turned up with an ample supply of beer and all was forgiven. We then had a quick dash into the Yacht Club as the heavens opened and the rain started. The curry arrived along with jugs of beer and Wanchai W*nker and the rain continued in torrents.

Didn't join that series last year as I think it's too far and quite remote for a beginner..... so I miss something
As predicted, all the way via the Wilson's trail until the catchment ; )
I planned to have some road running before the weekend but I can forget it after running all along the catchment today
Stricky checkback at Wilson's up Tung Yeung Shan which brings the whole pack together!
Oh.... more running need
But I'm quite curious that what the picture if I did not going up the Wilson's trail and keep on going further o_O
The internal gps tell me that we're somewhere around Tai Lo, bingo! And starting from here, a wonderful WALOB shiggy is hidden ; ) And I can hear "oops"... "ouch"..... shouting all the way beyind me
What's an unfortunate that I stepped on a steep surface of boulder and suddenly drop ~half metre..... my leg hurt and can't move Luckily, I can still able to walk after a short break (but in the beginning no more pushing power of the lower leg)
Seems it's an endless narrow contouring shiggy trail @@
Fantastic! Exit near around buffalo pass and now we can fly again
Oh no!!! It sounds that I'm not okay as my ankle fefeel tight and seems locked o_O
All I can do is going downhill steps by steps. After reaching the concrete, dogs barked loudly and one of them approaching me just within metre @@ Calm down and keep walking.....
I should sprint down the Mang Kung Wo road as usual but all I can do is running like a single leg hop @@
OMG.... WALOB..... suddenly turn right into the trail again
On home after passing some huts and back to Pak Sha Wan
Thanks for the nice trail, great job!
p.s. Now.... I remember that shiggy trail maybe the one which trapped many runners during the Raleigh Mountain Marathon many years ago?!

Hopeless comes out of (temporary) retirement to keep up his 100% record of WALOB attendance's.
He was not disappointed! Fantastic shiggyfest from about 3.8km to 7km before the run in to the finish at Hebe Haven Yacht Club and a curry On On.
Wimps split at about 2.5km - before the CB set heading up to the Wilson Trail. Missed or not heard by Gobi Lo who forged on, chasing down the Flying Fux on the Rambos.
Elevation gain and loss was : +368.7 / -558.0 metres.
4 falls, no submissions, and a hand & thumb bandaged up meant another memorable and excellent WALOB with about $2,000,000 of Hell Bank money on trail.
Well done the hares Lost In Space & Octopussy!
