LSW 1939 Kennedy Town

Peter chose the coldest February day in 18 years for his run with 7.3 degrees Celsius recorded Wednesday morning, while temperatures in Sochi ranged from a relatively comfortable 9 to 16 degrees. Still, this didnít prevent a crowd of 20+ hard-bitten Hashers to leave their comfy (or in my case not so comfily heated) offices and gather in Kennedy Town.

Peter being a diligent virgin hare thought marking the trail once might not be enough so he took the whole day off and set it again in the afternoon. Maybe they just donít have heating in his office and he preferred to warm himself instead. Too bad Co-Hare Shiggy Gaga arrived too late to be of any help here ;)

After a simple briefing, the pack followed Sweaty Snailgobblerís LSW 1933 run up the playground but soon took an easterly swing through some Shiggy and up Mount Davis. After a funny loop on top the first Rambo split took us down a steep bit of Shiggy. We have been warned by Peter but Chatroom Paedophile still mistook flower for snow, seems he missed his other LSW3 friends who were over in Japan for skiing. Appropriate for a LSW 1939 (read World War II) run, the last part took us through some abandoned air-raid shelters, nothing for people with claustrophobia.

After crossing Pok Fu Lam Road, it was up again, this time the destination was the abandoned castle on top of Lung Fu Shan. On the way, it seems we lost some people as they followed old trail at an open check halfway up but some clever people finally pointed out the right trail.

Most people felt dizzy after all the up and down and round and round so it was no surprise that I missed the leftturn down to the gas station and carried on along Hatton Road all the way to the pavilion. When I arrived, the serious runners had left already and only a small pack stayed behind to wash down this run with some Thai food at the nearby cooked-food centreÖ
